For the first time ever a theoretical and practical course to teach dance accompaniment is being offered in a 100% virtual online course, taught by Professor Aly Tejas, where pianists aspiring to be ballet and dance accompanists will receive fundamental knowledge, learn different techniques, and have the opportunity to create and perform their own accompaniment for exercises under the direct guidance of Prof. Tejas, accompanist for the Boston Ballet with over 17 years of experience and five full-length recordings to her credit. The courses are designed so that students may take them regardless of what country they are in, thus receiving specialized instruction and having direct contact with the best teachers.

All will be presented through lectures, audio clips, and video clips. Create your own accompaniment with this course! This hands-on course to learn how to accompany ballet class is completely new and 100% on-line.

HOW THE CLASS WORKS:
The course begins on February 7, 2012 and runs 12 weeks. Each week is a different unit where the coursework is presented through Prof. Tejas’ lectures (audio) plus supporting audio and video files. Weeks 1 and 2 contain theoretic material while weeks 3 through 12 contain theoretic material as well as practical exercises.

AFTER EXPLAINING EACH EXERCISE, STUDENTS WILL DEVELOP THEIR OWN ACCOMPANIMENT USING THE VIDEO WITH THE DANCER, AND WILL RECEIVE FEEDBACK ON IT.
