Martha Mahr, distinguished ballerina and instructor, passed away this June. In her career that spanned almost sixty decades, Martha was a principal ballerina, a renowned instructor for prestigious academies such as the Cuban National Ballet of Alicia Alonso, and founder of the renown Martha Mahr School of Ballet in Miami, Florida. Her dedication to the art form and her commitment to her students set her apart from many other professionals in the ballet world. Students from all over sought Martha Mahr out to receive instruction from her, among them Margot Fonteyn, Cynthia Gregory, Fernando Bujones, and Natalia Makarova. Aly Tejas had the fortune to work with her for almost seven years and this CD is her heartfelt tribute to this most extraordinary woman.
